Kiev Academic Puppet theatre is the oldest puppet theatre in Ukraine, founded on October 27, 1921. Throughout its existence the theatre was placed in different buildings. Since 2005 it has been placed in a specially built construction in the very center of the city but at the same time in a very calm and quiet place. The building of the theatre has the appearance of a real fairly tale palace both in exterior and interior design. More over, the nearby territory is also decorated as a real fairly tale place for kids (sculptures of heroes from fairly tales, the fountain, banks for relaxation, flower beds etc). The theatre has in its disposition 2 auditoriums for performances that can seat 300 and 110 spectators. There is also a kid’s café that includes 70 seats. All stage and auditorium rooms are equipped following the latest technical requirements. The repertoire of the theatre contains more than 40 national and foreign performances, both for kids and adults. The Kiev Academic Puppet theatre represented Ukraine on the most prestigious theatrical forums and festivals in the USA, Peru, Canada, Slovakia, Japan, Southern Korea, Poland, Bulgaria, Belarus and Russia. Following the initiative of Kiev Academic Puppet theatre since 1991 the International festival of puppet theatres is held in Kiev.
