Museum Arsenal – is a fortification building built in 1554-1556 in Lvov. It is located on the Podvalna Street 5.It is a real must see for, those who admire weapon and fortification buildings.
The museum of weapon was opened in 1981 in the restored Lvov’s armory. The exposition is organized by the type, the place and the time when the weapon was created. Here you can see the examples of cold arms and firearms, the collection of table wear with weapon pictures and the collection of military orders.
The items represent more than 30 countries of the world. There are remains of the fortification wall built with stones. The building itself has 2 floors. The windows are very small – they are gun slots. There is a ditch in front of the wall that used to protect the building from the enemies. It is a known fact that in XVIII century there used to be a place in the basement of Arsenal where the captivated Cossacks were kept.
There is also a room for tortures and a room where executioner used to live.
This museum is considered to be one of the best in Lvov.
